WORLD ORT PROJECT-CONTEST "CHIBUR"-"HISTORY OF THE PEOPLE THROUGH THE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY AND THE COMMUNITY"

The main objective of this project is to attract Jewish youth to the study and documentation of the history of their Jewish families and communities, the creation of web-resources for the publication of the results of these studies.

The project was divided into 2 phases. During the first stage at schools participating in the project, training seminars were held for teachers and students, concerning issues related to methods of collecting and processing information, creation of family trees (as a form of presentation of collected data), use of Internet services to create blogs and websites. There were instructional recommendations submitted: "How to investigate the history of the family and the community," "Work with blogs and their multimedia content", "site creation".

185 teachers and 93 students participated in 12 training seminars, which were held in Moscow, Odessa, Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Kazan, Samara and Sofia.

 Within the framework of the project the contest of studentsí group and individual work was held. On the first stage students were asked to use the services only for the projects for creating blogs. There were phase 17 group and 10 individual blogs about the history of Jewish families and communities created.

 On the second phase, participants had the opportunity to implement projects in the form of group and individual sites. There were Created 9 group sites and 5 group blogs, 6 individual sites and 22 individual blogs. All of the projects are presented on the project's website-   chibur.ort.org.

 The total number of particiapants during the 2012/13 academic year is 395 students from 16 ORT network and partner schools from 7 countries: Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia and Bulgaria. In the preparation of materials for projects there were more than 600 participants brought together.

 Project of World ORT "Chibur" was implemented with the support of The Pincus Fund for Jewish education in diaspora.
