Jewish School “Or-Avner”, Ekaterinburg

Non-governmental Jewish School “Or-Avner” was opened in 2000. Students of 1st to 11th grade are studied here.

The school consists of 15 class-rooms. Class-rooms of Hebrew, Traditions, English language and Natural-science disciplines are equipped according to hi-tech standards.
In 2004 the ORT ICT lab was opened for conducting of lessons with using of information technologies.
There are also commodious school hall, kosher canteen, modern-equipped gym and library with reading-hall in the school.
The special attention is given aesthetic education: dance, rhythmic, music, chorus, theatre, and design studios are worked.
All conditions for studying not only all subjects of the Russian National Curriculum, but also the Jewish disciplines: history, traditions, Hebrew, are created in the school.

From August, 20 till August, 23rd 2007 in the Vocational Training Centre "ORT-career" of Ekaterinburg the first listeners under program GET-IT supported by HP corporation were trained. 

15 persons from 8 cities of Sverdlovsk area: Nizhni Tagil, Kamensk-Ural, Asbestos, Krasnoufimska, Irbit, Rezha, Top Saldy and Ekaterinburg studied the course  "To  Advanced Business by the Advanced Technologies" enthusiastically . Skilled business persons and business experts who work in municipal structures of small business supporting were invited in order to get acquainted with the possibilities of GET-IT program and to make the decision on its realisation in the cities. Their desire to realise this program in their city is the good sign of the program's quality and the level of trainers' work.

Lawson ORT-Career Centre, Ekaterinburg

The centre established at Yekaterinburg is named The Lawson ORT-Career Centre, Yekaterinburg, and is accommodated within the Jewish Community Centre "Synagogue" that was officially inaugurated in April 2005. ORT was invited to participate in this project as a leading organization in the provision of facilities and training for the Jewish community.
The infrastructure for the Lawson ORT-Career Centre is based upon an ORT Information and Communications Technology Studio. During the initial preparatory period ORT designed and planed the facilities and specify equipment and software.
The primary activity of the Lawson ORT-Career Centre is the realisation of ORT projects, organisation of the groups and consultations on distance learning courses, support of the computer courses at the Jewish Community Centre “Synagogue”.
The “ORT-career” project is aimed to train the Jewish population in the field of ICT using and their employment assistance. 

Now the following courses are conducted at the Center:

  • Java-programming
