Samara ORT Technology Centre Samara School #42

The school #42 was opened in 1939. During the Great Patriotic War the military hospital was located in the school building.
In 1999 year the school celebrated the 60th anniversary. Except all disciplines of the Russian National Curriculum, students are also study Hebrew, Jewish history, traditions and literature.

There are three of classes in school in current time:

  • Classes with general education;
  • Classes with in-depth  study of technology and informational technologies;
  • National Jewish Classes.

There are curricula of three types according the classes’ division.
School has a government accreditation and license as a “School of in-depth study of such subjects as Technology, IT and Jewish component”.

  • On October 19, 1999, the ORT Technology Centre was opened at the school.
  • "The ORT technology Centre" at Samara school #42 is the joint project of “World ORT Union” and Samara Region Educational Department.

The main goal of the ORT technology Centre is to teach students to use the great variety of new technologies, to teach them critical thinking skills, to cope with rapid changes of modern life.

The center includes two IT labs, technology lab, the network center, resource lab and  media library. Students can study modern technologies according to the world standards, using not only computers, but also educational sets LegoDacta, machine tools and the electronic equipment.

HP-ORT Micro enterprise Acceleration Program Centre at the Samara State Aerospace University in Samara

In May 2005, the Hewlett Packard Corporation’s Micro enterprise Acceleration Program approved funding for the Micro enterprise Acceleration Program Centre in Samara, Russian Federation on the basis of philanthropic agreement between Hewlett-Packard International Sàrl (“HP”) and WORLD ORT (ORT). The two-year project started from September 2005. 

Thanks to the combined efforts of HP, World ORT, and local partner in Samara, the HP ORT MAP Centre has become a reality and has begun to impact the community in which it is located. The following narrative report provides an overview of the progress of the MAP Centre as it evolved from a project plan on paper to renovated, outfitted, and active training center. The appendices to the narrative report contain press clippings and other materials related to the MAP project in Samara as outlined in the Appendix section below.

The HP-ORT MAP Centre is a leading example in the former Soviet Union of cooperation between an international corporation, a globally active nonprofit organization, local officials, and local partner organization for effective action on the ground.

In Samara the decision was made to locate the HP-ORT MAP Centre at the Samara State Aerospace University. Major renovations were completed and the majority of the equipment was installed by the end of October 2005, and on October 2005, there were the ceremony of the Technical Opening held.

Centre was designed in keeping with technology center models that World ORT has developed. The center includes 2 classrooms, one mobile class and server facilities, equipped with state-of-the-art HP computers, printers, and network technologies to facilitate advanced learning.

On the 9th of November, the Official Opening ceremony of the Samara Micro enterprise Acceleration Program Centre HP-ORT was held. This is the joint project of Hewlett Packard Corporation and World ORT aimed to increase access to and build capacity for the use of information and communications technologies in the communities, and to promote the development of Entrepreneurship and Micro enterprises skills.

Besides courses different seminars on methods of promotion of products and service of the micro enterprises working in the field of innovations are conducted in the Centre. Participants of the seminars are the specialists of innovations centers from various regions of Russia: Tatarstan, Bashkiria, Penza region, Kursk region, Moscow, Perm, Nizhniy Novgorod, etc.
