Digital Community Centre Slavutich, Ukraine

Education and technology centre (HP-ORT DCC)  in  Slavutich is a joint project of World ORT and Hewlett-Packard Corporation "Digital Community Centre". The Centre is located near the centre of the city in City’s Municipal Library and Information Centre.

Digital Community Centre was officially opened on May 11, 2003. Centre consists of 3 computer classes (15 computers in each), Resource Centre, Network Centre, Offices. Every classes and premises are equipped by modern computers, multimedia, printing and network equipment of Hewlett-Packard Corporation and connected to Internet.

The Centre has been made for increasing of the educational level in Slavutich, professional orientation of the graduates from Educational Institutions, training and retraining of the specialists for City organizations. Since opening of the Centre more then 4000 students were trained. Students of Slavutych branches of National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI" and Chernigov State institute of Economics and Management are trained in the DCC. School's students and teachers, students, unemployed and socially exposed sections of the population groups, personnel of local government institutions, workers of Chornobyl nuclear power plant that become free because its closing are also studied there.

All courses, developed by our specialists are provided with instructional supplies. Also DCC specialists developed the distance learning test system and the Centre’s web-site which reflects and describes Project’s aims, objectives and target groups. 

Educational seminars for schoolchildren, students, tutors and businessmen, different competitions are regularly conducted on the base of centre. DCC was one of organizers of the International Festival of children creativity, television and press “Slavutych Golden Autumn”. Any citizen of Slavutich within “Digital Library” project has opportunity to work with digital information resources in Internet.

Centre has partnership relations that have been confirmed by signed frame cooperation agreements with many City institutions such as City Department of Education, Business development Agency, City TV company “Slavutich”, City Employment Agency, Centre of information and PR, Library-information Centre.

Since 2009 education and technology centre (HP-ORT DCC) in included into the joint project of  World ORT and Hewlett-Packard Corporation  for micro enterprise acceleration - GET-IT (Graduate Entrepreneurship Training through IT).
