“Fiddler on the Roof” came to Samara

On Tuesday, February, 10, "Fiddler on the Roof", accompanied by the Representative of  World ORT David Benish and ORT Russia Director Sergey Gorindkiy visited Samara school # 42 ORT "Gesher".

In his speech at the ceremony of the delivering of the honorary prize of Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia Sergey Gorinskiy noted that this award should be given to all our colleagues, teachers and professionals from schools, colleges and training centers of ORT network.

And this year, in recognition of outstanding teachers and staff of the Samara ORT "Gesher" School "Fiddler on the Roof" arrived to Samara.

Samara School ORT "Gesher" is a part of ORT network for over 15 years. In 1999, ORT Technology Centre was opened there, which has done a lot for the development of technology education at School. Currently, school #42 is one of the most computerized schools of the Samara region, that used in the learning process the most up-to-date equipment and educational methods.

Students of ORT "Gesher" study "Technology" on curriculum and textbooks, developed on the basis of the best practices of ORT global network accumulated during the years of its operation. Children learn advanced technology and learn to use it to solve problems and to implement projects in other fields of knowledge. In-depth study of information technology allows students to become advanced computer users. They also can choose to study such courses in the field of high technologies, as design, robotics, photo and video technology, programming, CAD / CAM technology.

Samara School ORT "Gesher" is an important part of the history and life of the Jewish community of Samara. School is regularly visited by Envoys of the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel. Together with the teachers of the school they are preparing events dedicated to Jewish holidays and memorable dates.

Under the leadership of Jewish studies teachers and teachers of ICT and Technology students are taking part in the projects, allowing the use modern information technology to improve knowledge in the field of culture and history of the Jewish people. Cartoons created by students of the school, marked by numerous letters at the contest of any level. Sites and blogs, dedicated to the history of the Jewish community in Samara, made by students, always take prizes in competitions among schools of ORT network.

School dance ensemble "Shemesh" performs regularly at festivals of the culture and traditions of multinational Samara region.

There are a lot to write and to say about Samara school #42 ORT "Gesher" and we heartily thank the Principal Svetlana Kosareva, Deputy Principal  Inna Banova, Envoy of the Ministry of Education of the State of Israel Moshe Zahava, primary school teachers Simona Fleisher and Marina Strygina, Literature teacher Sophia Naida, teachers  of ICT and Technology Irina Pogodin, Galina Pavkina, Olga Parodina, Natalya Fomenko, Anna Frolova, Art teacher Olga Lukyanova and all teachers and school staff for their invaluable contributions to the development of school.
